Musethica week marks 35th anniversary of Zeist Music Days

The Zeister Muziekdagen festival hosted a Musethica week from November 8th to 17th. During this session, the Motus Quartet was the special guest ensemble, tutored by renowned clarinetist Martin Spangenberg, who has served as the artistic director of the Jeunesses Musicales International Chamber Music Campus in Weikersheim for many years.

The week concluded with the Autumn Concert on November 16th, held in the Main Church Hall of the Evangelical Brotherhood Community in Zeist. This concert not only marked the end of Musethica Week but also celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Zeister Muziekdagen festival.

What made this Musethica experience truly unique was that most of the concerts took place outside traditional concert halls. Instead, the Motus Quartet performed at various venues, including a humanitarian center, schools, hospitals, and other community spaces. This approach provided a distinctive learning experience for the young musicians while also creating a significant social impact by bringing music to audiences who would otherwise not have had access to such performances.

The next Musethica Session in Zeist is scheduled for April 2025. These sessions, held biannually in spring and fall, are part of 1000+ Concerts, which brings classical music to diverse and underserved communities across Europe.
