Event Details

With the great support of the European Union and Oleg Prokofiev Trust we successfully organized 30 master classes in 12 different schools in Spain, France and Germany. The aim of the project was to test new learning methods / opportunities and explore new cooperation modalities between excellent music professionals and different types of educational institutions targeting disadvantaged children between 6-14 years of age.

It is a completely new approach to hold open and interactive master classes in classical chamber music. Selected, advanced musicians who study at the most prestigious music academies and universities of Europe received a public lesson by a tutor in front of small groups of children who were active participants in the lesson. Children contributed to these master classes, bringing their perception of music into the lessons.

The goal of the project was also to create an interactive exchange between children from various social and cultural backgrounds and/or with special needs and professional musicians. This new approach to music education and learning is exploring a sustainable way of sharing and using the power of music in the personal development of disadvantaged children. It adds a professional dimension to the musical education offered in schools and gives children a wider perspective on high-quality performing art, while also helping them to develop social skills through music: to listen, concentrate, express their opinions and feelings, enhancing their creativity, broadening their horizon and interest as well as strengthening their self esteem.

We produced a short documentary about the project that can be found here:
