Agata Szymczewska
Polish violinist, the winner of the 13th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poznań in 2006. The artist has performed in the most prestigious concert halls including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Jordan Hall in Boston, Wigmore Hall and Royal Festival Hall in London, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Musikverein in Vienna, Konzerthaus and Philharmonie in Berlin, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Sala Sao Paulo in Brazil, Seoul Arts Center, Shanghai Symphony Concert Hall, Beijing Concert Hall as well as in Japan, Canada, Taiwan, Chile, Columbia and Israel under the baton of Seiji Ozawa, Sir Neville Marriner, Andrey Boreyko, Oslo Vanska, Mario Venzago, Alexander Liebreich, Krzysztof Penderecki, Maxim Vengerov, Michał Nesterowicz and Krzysztof Urbański. She has been invited to take part in many festivals around the world including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, Edinburgh Festival, Enescu Festival in Bucharest, Tanglewood Music Festival, Mostly Mozart Festival in San Diego, Beijing Music Festival etc.
Agata Szymczewska performs regularly with Anne-Sophie Mutter and „Mutter’s Virtuosi”, touring four continents since 2014. Her chamber music partners include also Martha Argerich, Krystian Zimerman, Gidon Kremer, Maxim Vengerov, Igor Levit, Veronika Hagen and Mischa Maisky. She is also the 1st violinist of the Karol Szymanowski Quartet, an internationally recognized ensemble performing regularly around the world. She has recorded for Deutsche Grammophon, Sony and Decca.
She is a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and holds a PhD in Music (2018). During the year Agata Szymczewska gives an extensive number of masterclasses around the world. She has recently taught at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, California State University in Northridge, State University of Music in Santiago de Chile, Sao Paulo State Music School - EMESP Tom Jobim, Beijing Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Music Conservatory, Korean National University of Arts in Seoul etc.
Currently her instrument of choice is a Nicolò Gagliano violin from 1755, on loan courtesy of Anne-Sophie Mutter.
