About Albin Uusijärvi

Albin Uusijärvi, born 1995 in Stockholm, started playing the violin at the age of 6, and after six years he switched to the viola. After finished elementary and high school studies in Stockholm, he started his Bachelor Program at the Hochschule für Musik ”Hanns Eisler” in Berlin for Prof. Walter Küssner, and later with Prof. Tabea Zimmermann. Well there, he took master classes and lessons with e.g. Tatjana Masurenko, Alexander Zemtsov, Jean Sulem and Lars-Anders Tomter.

In January 2014 Albin won national competition Polstjärnepriset which gave him a ticket to the international competition Eurovision Young Musicians directly broadcasted from Cologne Germany on European television.

In January 2012 Albin went on a USA tour with the Swedish National Youth Orchestra and played in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Strathmore Center and Chicago Symphony Hall. He also performs regularly with the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Albin was awarded several scholarships such as the Ingrid och Per Welins Youth Scholarship and the Hans Dalborgs Music Scholarship.

Albin plays a Peter Westerlund viola from 2017.
